Truss Challenge:
In this challenge myself and my team member decided that we would construct our truss out of x's and straight pieces of balsa wood perpendicular to the two base pieces. We decided this because our previous knowledge that triangles are the strongest because for a triangle to fail it would need one side to break and it cannot slump over. During the testing our truss was 10 oz and was able to support 220 lbs before total failure. This insured the win of the truss challenge

Rubik's Cube: In this project we had to identify the problem which was build a Rubik's cube, then we had to develop our ideas choose the best one and then finally develop the actual product.
For this super bridge project a team of myself, noah, alec, and brett looked for a solution to our problem. Our problem was to create a 8 foot super bridge to support the weight of my entire team. so then we did some research on the bridge and we found that a arch design would be the strongest because it distributes the weight of my team evenly over the given area of the bridge. next we developed our ideas on a piece of paper (i do not have it because justin burnt it) after we developed our ideas. then we chose which design we were to build, we chose the arch design. After we started to build the prototype which only took 7 days as my team (me) worked diligently and finished and then prepared for the next step was to test. we first weighed our bridge before the test it was 5lbs 14oz. the bridge broke when we loaded our weight on it but then we communicated its weaknesses and if we were to redesign we would have put more supports on it.
this was my musical instrument task my goal was to create a musical device that made a beautiful sound. so I immediately got to researching and in my research I found that if you bend steel it makes a beautiful sound due to vibration of the metal. then I developed the plans and chose my best design and got to work on a prototype. then came the testing of playing a little concert in front of Mr. Ramos and i think he loved it. then afterwords i communicated my success to him and thought about ways i could re design it to be better.
this is my aquaponics assignment my goal is to plant a seed in this system and on the last day of school i am to leave with a plant. so i did some research on which plant grows best in this system and i came to the conclusion that an apple seed will work the best so then i developed and chose my plans for containment of the seed so i cut off the bottom of a water bottle and poked a hole in it to give the seed water to grow. with this new prototype the waiting portion of the test has begun and i am still waitng for the test portion to end...
This is my aquaponics room design challenge. the goal was to create a self sufficient room that contained an aquaponics system to successfully grow a plant. in my research I saw that tomatoes grew the best with koi fish aiding them in a near by water tank. After my research was done i began to develop an idea for my room design. once my ideas were developed
this is my current engineering design project. My goal is to create a wind turbine that will generate 12 volts of electricity. In my research in discovered that the best design is a tripod with 1-3 turbines. Then i began to develop my ideas on to paper as you can see on the paper i chose to go with the tripod with 3 turbines, this is as far as i have gotten with my design.
